LET’S EXPLORE TEXTURE

30 TEXTURES
Grade: All
Please watch this video for information about Texture (optional)

Objective: While observing your environment, find 30 textures (outside or inside).
Make a list of the different textures you observed by naming them and describing the object where you found each texture (gr. 3-6).
For example: tree bark/scratchy…grass/prickly…pavement/bumpy
ART IS ALL AROUND YOU!!
EXTENSION: Take some of the textures that you found and create an artwork of your choice. You could use the side of a crayon with the paper removed to do a rubbing of each texture you found. Place a piece of paper over the object. While holding the paper still, use the side of the crayon to rub back and forth until you see the texture appear on your paper. For a challenge, try to use all 30 textures.

Here is another video demonstrating how to use the bottom of different shoes as a way to make texture! SO COOL!

Be creative and have fun. Feel free to email me a picture of your drawings at neal@leverettschool.org. I’d love to see what you are doing and if you are finding these activities enjoyable.
Be safe! Stay healthy! Wash your hands!
Have Fun! Love, Ms. Neal
